Using a Link Storage on a Transfer

Once your Link Storage is created, the next step is to populate it with values. This is very easy — you simply assign the Link Storage to your transfer.

To do this, open the Transfer and go to the General section. There you’ll find a field called “Link Storage”, where you can choose any of the Link Storages you have created.

What happens when a Link Storage is selected?

When a Transfer has a Link Storage assigned, the following logic applies:

  • Each time the Transfer runs, every source record processed by the Transfer is checked.
  • If a matching destination record exists (or is newly created), Rapidi will store the link field values — defined in your Link Storage — into the Link Storage automatically.
  • If the stored values differ from what the Transfer reads, Rapidi will update them dynamically.

In short: the Link Storage is continuously kept up-to-date at runtime.

Tip for initial data sync:

If you are using Source Control or Mirror so the Transfer only reads changed records, you may want to load all existing records the first time you start using Link Storage.

To do this, simply reset the RTI value to 0 or -1 so that the Transfer reads all records. This ensures that all link values from both systems are inserted into the Link Storage from the start.
